Aftercare Guide

Hair Discolouration

  • Hair extensions may change colour over time due to environmental factors, standard beauty products, and excessive heat.
  • Contact with sun protection creams, oils, perfume, and false tanning products can cause hair to turn peach, pink, or copper.
  • High mineral content in pool water and seawater can also cause discolouration due to a chemical reaction.
  • We do not recommend using sun-beds as this can discolour / dry out the hair.
  • Use Archie Lloyd's specially designed aftercare products to prevent and restore hair discolouration.

Application

  • Seek a professionally trained specialist for application, maintenance, and removal.
  • We cannot guarantee the processes used by the extensionist.
  • Hair should be clean and dry before application.
  • Attend maintenance appointments every 4-6 weeks to ensure longevity.

Colouring/Toning

  • While many clients successfully dye their 100% human hair extensions, we recommend ordering the correct shade or a custom shade to avoid the need for colouring.
  • Colouring extensions can lead to dryness and damage.
  • We do not recommend bleaching the hair as it can cause damage, breakage, and shedding.
  • We also do not recommend perming the hair due to the harsh chemicals.
  • Altering the hair in any way is at your own risk, and we cannot guarantee the quality after such changes.

Heat/Styling

  • At Archie Lloyd's, we recommend avoiding heat over 180 degrees on your hair extensions. For best results, use only Archie Lloyd's aftercare products, including our Argan oil and heat protection spray.

Brushing

  • Always use our recommended soft bristle brushes.
  • Limit brushing when hair is wet.
  • Start brushing from the ends and work your way up to the roots, being gentle to avoid pulling the extensions.

Washing/Drying

  • Do not wash the hair for 48 hours after application.
  • Avoid washing hair too frequently; we recommend washing extensions once a week to prevent dryness and damage.
  • Never wash in circular motions.
  • Use our sulphate-free shampoo and conditioner to maintain hair health, as sulphates strip natural oils from the scalp.
  • Our recommended shampoo and conditioner are sulphate-free and contain Argan oil.
  • Ensure bonds are dried thoroughly.
  • Occasionally use our extensions boost and Argan oil for added care.

Sleep

  • To prevent knotting, hair should be braided while sleeping.
  • We recommend using Archie Lloyd's silk pillowcases and bonnets to maintain the condition of the extensions.
  • Never go to bed with wet extensions.
